Radio (Wireless)
Radio uses electromagnetic waves to carry information through the air without wires. It enabled broadcasting, wireless telegraphy, and eventually all modern wireless communication.

Radio was cumulative and contested. James Clerk Maxwell predicted electromagnetic waves; Heinrich Hertz produced them; Jagadish Chandra Bose, Oliver Lodge, Alexander Popov, and Nikola Tesla built key components; and Guglielmo Marconi engineered and commercialized long-distance wireless. Patent priority (notably some Marconi patents) was later litigated.
What counts as the invention: The physics (Maxwell, Hertz), the components (Bose, Lodge, Tesla), and the commercial system (Marconi) are separable contributions.
