- How accurate is it?
- The geometry is exact; the density is a nominal value for the material family, so real weight varies a percent or two by specific alloy and temper. For certified weights, use the mill's density for that alloy.
- What's the density of steel vs aluminum?
- About 0.284 lb/in³ (7.85 g/cm³) for steel and 0.098 lb/in³ (2.70 g/cm³) for aluminum — aluminum is roughly a third the weight of steel for the same volume.
