Electromagnetic induction links electricity and motion: generators turn mechanical power into electricity, and motors turn electricity back into motion. Together they made electrification of industry and daily life possible.

Michael Faraday and (independently) Joseph Henry discovered electromagnetic induction in 1831; Ányos Jedlik built early rotary machines; and the practical AC induction motor was developed nearly simultaneously by Nikola Tesla and Galileo Ferraris in the 1880s. This is a chain of parallel, cumulative work, not one inventor.
What counts as the invention: Discovery of induction (Faraday/Henry) is separate from the engineering of practical dynamos and the AC motor (Tesla/Ferraris).
